Accountant

We are looking for a candidate fluent in English with prior experience as a Accountant or Bookkeeper in Bulgaria.
Preference will be given to candidates with more than three years of bookkeeping experience, including corporate tax and VAT reporting.
Responsibilities:
• Extensive knowledge in Bulgarian local accounting management system.
• Manage all accounting transactions related to VAT and general bookkeeping.
• Prepare VAT returns, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting, or other tax requirements.
• Maintain accurate financial records and statements.
• Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting activities including reconciliations of bank and credit card accounts, coordination and completion of annual audits, and reviewing financial reports/support as necessary.
• Analyze and report on financial status including income statement variances, communicating financial results to management, budget preparation, and analysis.
• Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions.
• Oversee accounting procedural compliance, and identify and correct errors.
• Work with external auditors and Accountants to ensure correct and timely closing and reporting at year-end.
Job Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a bookkeeper, with a strong focus on VAT and bookkeeping.
• In-depth understanding of business bookkeeping procedures.
• Solid knowledge of tax laws and GAAP.
• Strong competency in accounting software and databases, as well as MS Office, especially Excel.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in handling financial information.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
